    This winter WAAAF (Women's Auxilliary Australian Airforce) dress uniform from 1943/4 is complete and in pristine condition. Marjorie Boyling, who owned it, would have looked extremely attractive in this smartly tailored suit. Her gift is an important addition to the WWII collection at Evans Head Living Museum which tells the bittersweet story of the war and the functioning airforce base and training facility there.     The Queensland Police Inspector/Sub-Inspector tunic manufactured between 1936 - 1950 sheds light on the Queensland Police Force during the 1930s to late 1940s and on the manufacturing industry in Brisbane during this same period. The owner of the garment is unknown, however, whoever wore this tunic must have been a male Inspector or Sub-Inspector who wore the uniform for ceremonial purposes.     Police Comissioner Norwin William Bauer's uniform is of historical significance because he was Commisioner of the Queensland Police Force during the turbulent years of 1969-1970 when Joh Bjelke-Petersen became Premier and anti-Vietnam demonstrations were prominent.     This ballgown, sewn from red satin and tulle and trimmed in white silk, was worn by Dawn Waterhouse to the State Ball in honour of Queen Elizabeth II in 1954.     The Queensland Police Officer Country Winter Uniform is one of the earliest examples of this uniform in Queensland. The fact that the whole uniform, tunic and pants, is in good condition makes this item especially signifiant. It is a hip-length, khaki green woollen tunic with long sleeves.     This wedding dress with train and shoes belonged to Gertrude Fanny Deer, who was from a well off South Australian family. She married Percival John Thorpe 8 June 1927 at Cherry Gardens Methodist Chapel, Adelaide. The wedding dress ensemble was made by Gertrude's friend Maude McAskall.     This blue and white stripped Indian cotton shirt was excavated from under the floorboards on level three of the Hyde Park Barracks, apparently near the staircase during restoration in 1980. The shirt is the only known intact example of the most common garment issued to convicts in their thousands.
